Josh Troops

Addiction Support Worker

At the age of 22, Josh suffered a traumatic brain Injury, a consequence of an unprovoked attack. This led to him becoming increasingly isolated and suffering with mental health problems. During the next few years, Josh used drugs and alcohol as a crutch to help him cope with his ongoing struggles. This eventually led to full blown addiction resulting in him hitting what is referred to, as rock bottom. After entering a private rehab facility in 2019 to get help, Josh is now on the path of recovery and a better life, and to this day remains clean and sober. He practices the 12 steps of recovery in his daily life and has helped many others recover from their addictions by passing the message on.

Josh has worked closely with the Foundation, and not only received Mental Health Counselling and Addiction support but has also become a SMART Recovery Facilitator and delivered many sessions on behalf of STF. More recently, Josh now manages our addiction side of the business, seeing clients on an individual basis as well as in group sessions for addiction recovery.

Josh also runs Exercise and Wellbeing classes here at the hub for the local community, and sees clients individually for their physical wellbeing. We welcome Josh to the team, as he continues to thrive and grow on his own recovery journey.
